Learner Driver Insurance | Short Term Car Cover
Now available online for most UK provisional driving licence holders a short term learner car insurance policy. Quote, buy and print policy documents online securely from the comfort of you own home. For many young adults the prospect of learning to drive and pass their driving test is probably one of the most important milestones in their teenage life. Most provisional driving licence holders will start their driving history by having lessons with a professional driving instructor.
Most new learner drivers would probably benefit with extra driving lessons under their parents tuition. However most parents are reluctant to add their children on to their motor policy because they are concerned that their no claims bonus would be at jeopardy should the learner driver be involved in a road traffic accident.
Luckily, a new type of short term learner driver car insurance is available to fit the above scenario. The learner driver takes out a separate one month motor car policy under their own name. If the learner driver is involved in a road traffic accident the parents motor policy does not get affected but the claim is made on the comprehensive learner insurance policy.
Following short period learner driver policies are available:

- Two month cover (can be renewed online)
- Three month cover (can be renewed online)
- Comprehensive learner insurance motor policy from £90.25 for one month.
The short term learner driver car insurance policy essentially sits side by side with an existing motor policy of the learner driver’s parent’s car. The only cover available is comprehensive.
The temporary learner driver car insurance is available for most cars up to ABI group 16 or less. Also the vehicle cannot have a current market value of more than £20,000.
Another great feature of the short term learner driver insurance is the supervision is not just restricted to the parents. The only condition is that the supervisor must be aged over 25 years and also must hold a valid full UK driving licence for at least three continuous years.
Important: When the learner driver passes their driving test all cover under the cheap learner driver car insurance policy ceases immediately. You will not be insured to drive the vehicle on a public highway even if the policy has not finished. The policy is only operational whilst the policyholder holds a provisional driving licence.
